Rope Decor

Rope Decor has something so authentically nautical and natural and it is definitely gaining in popularity for decorating amongst beach lovers. You can easily infuse a very stylish and authentic nautical look into your home by using the right rope decor.

Nautical rope is kind of a rustic material, and it is an easy and accessible item to use when decorating your home. You can get all kinds of rope from your local hardware store and get started!

Have a look at the rope decor gallery.

The options for using rope in your decor are practically endless, and I want to showcase some of the nicest ideas I have come across here. You can see in the photos below just how versatile rope can be when you decide to spruce up your beach decor with rope. It can be used in a functional way, like for holding up shelves, hanging towels, or as a rail going up stairs. It can also be used in a very decorative way, like rope balls being displayed in a bowl or glass vase, or coiled around a pedestal table.

Have a look at these gorgeous, self made textured rope balls – they are called “Monkey’s Fist Knot” …

Here is a different kind of rope ball, this one is much easier to make; just buy any kind of ball from a craft store – it can be wood (which would give it a bit of weight) or any other material you feel serves the purpose, and start winding the rope around. Use a hot glue gun to glue the rope on the ball. As you can see, you can use different colors and different thicknesses of rope for this project. Gorgeous, aren’t they, and so simple! Put them in a bowl, or a glass vase of any kind, or even a glass fish bowl, and they will look stunning!

Update 30/5/2012 – I had to add this to this post, I came across it on the site remodelaholic and had to share it, it’s so ingenious!!! Wouldn’t you love to make this rope chandelier? It’s the perfect DIY project. Rope Chandelier 2
